Hope you all have had a wonderful week so far and a celebratory 4th if you're in the States!  Can I just take a moment to say...I LOVE TARGET, Y'ALL!!  The more I shop there (which is already a lot), the more stuff I find that I didn't think I needed!  A couple of weeks ago, I saw this beauty on the shelves of the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia display.  You know that display at Target with the little black house outline that is signature Joanna Gaines!?

The shelf looks a little flat in this picture, but it is 2.5 inches deep, perfect for placing small decor items that you might have laying around in a storage box or drawer somewhere.  This is how Joanna Gaines described it on the packaging herself:

So after pondering over this awesome find and trying to figure out where I can use this in my house, I BOUGHT IT!  Because I just had to have it..

This is how the shelf looked When i (er... my husband) first put it on the wall:

Each of the little "square" spaces are approximately 3.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide.  Personally, I don't think that it is necessary to fill every single space with something because then it'll just look like a storage shelf (which there's nothing wrong with if that's what you are using it for).  But by strategically placing a few little items that are varying heights and spreading them out on the display, it will really help this wall shelf become a statement decor piece in the room!  If you have special, unique little items that you've collected over time (as Joanna states on the package), what a neat conversation piece this shelf might become. Check out what I did with this wall shelf in my home!

Here's a quick sneak peek of how I'm planning to use the shelf.  I've had these adorable "peas in a pod" salt and pepper shakers for YEARS (you know...from all the wedding party favors you've collected over the years that were too small to really use for anything practical, but you still kept because you thought it was so cute and that you might really use one day...) Finally, I am using these tiny little pieces as actual decor, and they fit perfectly on this shelf!
